Fenugreek, known as “Methi” in Hindi and Tamil, is a versatile spice widely used in Indian cooking and traditional medicine. It comes from the seeds of the Trigonella foenum-graecum plant, which also produces edible leaves. The seeds are small, golden-yellow, and have a slightly bitter, nutty flavor with a distinctive aroma that intensifies when roasted.

It is rich in fiber, iron, magnesium, and protein. In Ayurveda, fenugreek is used to balance vata and kapha doshas, and is believed to aid in weight loss and reduce inflammation.
